Ahhh.... Love Is In The Air

Are you curious about trying an Internet dating site, but have doubts? It can be intimidating if you've never tried it. There are hundreds of sites, and the really good ones require a fee.

The Try Internet Dating web site posts reviews of dating sites. It provides an extensive write-up on the reviewer's experience and then gives a rating.

Then there are the "Personals Ads". Try these, gathered from from Jewish newspapers:

"Divorced Jewish man seeks partner to attend shul with, light Shabbos candles, celebrate holidays, build Sukkah together, attend brisses and Bar Mitzvahs. Religion not important."

"Israeli professor, 41, with 18 years of teaching in my behind. Looking for American-born woman who speaks English very good."

"I am a sensitive Jewish prince to whom you can open your heart to share your innermost thoughts and deepest secrets. Confide in me. I'll understand your insecurities. No fatties, please."

"Jewish male, 34. Very successful, smart, independent, self-made. Looking for girl whose father will hire me."

"Single Jewish woman, 29, into disco, mountain climbing, skiing, track and field. Has slight limp."

Half-Staff, or You Can Get Anything You Want

You can find just about anything on the Internet nowadays. For instance, a friend asked how long should flags be flown at half-staff? Is there a rule, or is half-staff for a deceased President just an arbitrary custom? Using Google to search, it took me about 15 seconds to answer those questions and a lot more.

According to U.S. Code, Title 36, Section 10

The flag shall be flown at half-staff
* thirty days from the death of the President or a former President;
* ten days from the death of the Vice President, the Chief Justice or a retired Chief Justice of the United States, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives;
* from the day of death until interment of
-- an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court
-- a Secretary of an executive or military department,
-- a former Vice President, or the Governor of a State, territory, or possession;
* on the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress.

Now you know.
