Another Windows Annoyance

Windows Messenger is installed by default with Windows XP and it set, by default,to start every time you logon.

If you aren’t a fan of Windows Messenger, you can prevent Messenger 4.5 or later from running.

Start-->Run-->regedit [Enter]
Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft
Edit-->New-->Key
Type in Messenger as the name of the new key
Click the new registry key-->Edit-->New-->DWORD
Type in PreventRun as the name of the value
Right click the newly-created DWORD value-->Modify
Type 1 for the value-->OK
Exit from regdit

This will begin working the next time you boot the computer.
